Popular Art of the World

In parallel with the Fabuleuse Culture d'Haïti exhibition, the Musée de Charlevoix opens its eyes to folk art from around the world, displaying objects from its own collection and that of Mr. Dominique Rossetti.

Folk art is multi-faceted, following social rather than artistic trends. Without a formal framework, it would be futile to attempt to assign it one. Here, we present a few samples of a vast reality that has evolved around the globe in surprisingly similar ways in populations far removed from one another.

From embellished utilitarian objects to handicrafts made for the tourist market, everything shows us this taste for beauty shared by all strata of society.

A look at what's similar to us, what brings us together, enabling us to forge links and recognize each other in spite of our differences.
